Professor of Contrastive and Comparative Linguistics at Riga Technical University (RTU). She has obtained a PhD from the University of Latvia in 2011. She is the author and co-author of more than 60 publications. Her research interests lie in the fields of digital humanities, terminology and terminotics, translatology, contrastive linguistics, text linguistics, pragmatics, and semantics. M. Platonova is the Head of the Institute of Digital Humanities. She is the author and the Head of the Master Study Programme “Digital Humanities”, the first master degree programme in this field in the Baltic States.
